Buy Local

Fresh produce is always the best way to start off preparing for a delicious meal.  You now hear lots of chefs talking about a "farm to table" approach.   Look around in your neighborhoods and cities to find local farmers and farmers markets where you can meet the person who planted and picked what you will eat.

Fix Your RAW Photos

Matthew Noel

I've made many mistakes while taking photographs over the years.  One thing I love about my digital camera is the ability to shoot in RAW.  That means that most information gathered off of the digital sensor is saved in my RAW file.  Why do I want that you might ask.  Well, it gives me more options when editing.  In a typical JPEG image the exposure and white balance is already "baked in".  With a RAW photo I can adjust the photo to a greater degree.  Below shows the saving grace of shooting in RAW.

Below is the original image exposure and contrast out of the camera.

Making A Splash

I love photographing liquids.  I was shooting the new drink menu for a client, Peppers Pizzeria, and ended up at the wine section.  Originally we shot a glass of wine with the bottle in the background.  It looked good and I was getting tired, but I wanted to try a pour.  The result of the fifth take is below.  In food photography, like everything else, it is important to press on.  You may end up with something you didn't expect.
