My DSLR Video Setup

I wanted to post my setup for my new dslr camera that shoots video.  I am sharing this because it took many hours of research and stress to this point and I hope to help anyone searching for insight.  I will post gear details and test footage as soon as I get a chance.

Above: I am shooting a scene for a series of Nicholls State Univerisity commercials.

Can you describe your DSLR setup for this rig?

Thanks for the question Ben. I use a Nikon D7000 on a cine city rail system. At the bottom of that there is a manfrotto tripod plate to make switching easy. The matte box stays off unless I am in direct sunlight. There is a follow focus and 7 inch Marshall monitor to aid in focus pulling. This sits on a manfrotto tripod or monopod, both with fluid heads. I also have a 4 foot slider and a steadycam Merlin.

My lens choice are fast primes. (24mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4, 60mm f/2.8 macro, 105 f/2.8mm macro) I use a flat setting in camera to give the most dynamic range and options in editing. I do this by lowering the contrast and sharpness in the cameras settings. Make sure to set your white balance to what ever lighting situation you are in. That's hard to change in post.

I hope that helps.
